Picnic at Picnic Point
It was not that cold in Toowoomba Today. We left the school and went down to Picnic Point - which is at the top of the range, looking over the valley down to Brisbane - which is 170 kms away.
Met some girls who had come up from the Gold Coast to play VolleyBall. We watched them for a while and then joined in having rides on this amazing thing, that when you pedaled like a bike it went round and round faster and faster and up and down. They were good kids!
Had a go ourselves and got quite giddy
Ellie brought her friend Nina and Nina's mother packed a picnic lunch, so we sat there for a few hours and just relaxed.
Then we went back to the school and all the kids came to look at this blog. When we go back to Wendy's place in two weeks we are going to manage it on our own.
Still homesick, but this is to be expected - we are told.
We are enjoying the kids we meet in class. Most of these are day kids - they come to school each day and live at home.
Enjoying the boarders too and getting to know them better every day.
We have been playing a bit of Tennis. Need to play some more because in two weeks we will be down with the Greater Brisbane Junior Tennis at University of Queensland. Last time they gave us shirts and made us special members. We left them back at Bathurst Island.
It is hard every day, but we are doing this for the sake of the family and community. We need the skills to run our organisation back home.
We should get one of these crazy Merry Go Around things for the kids on the Tiwi Islands!
