End of First Term 2008

On the way home after a good term.

The challenge for Josetta and Sheree next term will be TAFE courses, as it is possible for kids to commence TAFE training while still at school. We feel it would be a good idea to comence career training so it is part completed by the time they finish at Downlands.

The Airlines are keen to have aboriginal kids. We will look into that option as it is a wonderful opportunity of service to be an Air Hostess - making people who are nervous comfortable on their flight and to have all the training to handle problems when they arise.

The younger kids have put in a great term: Noreen and Joanna, Michael and Jessiah.

One Week To Go!!

Everyone was happy when I arrived today! Karla had had long talks with the girls and has done a good job resolving difficulties. Karla and her children came up to meet with us today.
I will be back at Downlands on Thursday to bring the kids back to catch their plane home. We will go to the international airport to see Boniface and Ada off as they return to Nigeria.
This week Josetta and Sheree will meet with the Career Counsellor at Toowoomba TAFE. We are hoping the older girls can incorporate pre-certificate courses into their Downlands program and the training for jobs commences while they are still at Downlands.
