Homesickness Pain is passing, but it is still hard!

Just back from Downlands, the kids feel less homesick and much better. It is a pity we do not have an older boys to help the two young ones! It is starting to get a bit cold in Toowoomba, but not too bad.

Both boys are playing basketball, but we are not getting the girls to play as yet. Parents, please encourage them. Basketball is a game where Tiwi girls do well. It is a good way of getting on and relating with the other kids.

Karla McGrady came out today. Karla is the Indigneous boarders Support Program Manager for the Toowoomba region. That is Karla with Josetta making her feel good.

Karla organised a meeting for all the aboriginal kids of the district last friday. They had a good time. Her next plan is to get a squad of speakers out and help the kids select the Career they want beyond Downlands. Sheree wants Health, Josetta wants Education. Karla is going to organise that they meet with Health and Education workers and even commence their studies while at Downlands.
We will keep talking about this and keep the parents well informed so you can all encourage the kids.

Tania sang some songs on a CD. You remember Tania. Tania with her Mum and Dad were Lay Missionaries at Milakapati eighteen years ago, they were the ones who painted the floor of the church. We had stories of Tania two weeks back.

Tania remembered Tiwi songs you taught her, she and sang them on a CD - I will send a copy to Eusebia so you can all hear. I took a CD to the kids today and they are working out which one to sing, and on Easter Sunday morning they may sing at mass at Kenmore Parish on Easter Sunday.

The parish will be excited to have the Tiwi kids taking an active part in prayer and will love hearing Catholic faith in another language.

Tania is a Music Therapist, she goes around helping people to use good music to make them good and strong.

Tania will come and stay at Downlands next term and work with all the aboriginal kids that Karla musters, so music is a instrument of peace.

Joanna wants to learn to play the piano, so Vinnies at Kenmore will help her. I am sure they will, I will ask them about it on next Wednesday's meeting
